The #poweredgreen Revolution

April 20, 2018

Did you know exposure to air pollution prevents the benefits of exercise (The Lancet)? That’s just one of many reasons, as well as well-known facts like February 2018 being the warmest on record (NASA), behind why Fitness Footwear has taken a stance in minimising the impact on our environment. We’re all fitness fanatics, and we’re all in this together.

Everyday we’re seeing fresh news regarding businesses and their impact on the environment, from unsustainable sources for their materials to a mass of throw-away packaging, and we believe businesses should be at the forefront of innovation and solution in looking after our environment. The first step in our goal towards being a more sustainable business is by opening our state of the art, eco-friendly warehouse, which we’re incredibly excited to unveil…

As you can see, our warehouse is packed with innovative features to help minimise the impact we have on our environment, beginning with safeguarding 134 acres of Peruvian rainforest to offset the emissions of construction. We’re here for creating a patch around the building animals can call their homes, with plants and trees to produce much needed oxygen. We’re here for the carpools, bikes and buses to the area that reduce the air pollution so affecting our lungs.

The new features on our warehouse don’t stop there. We’re proud to say our building features Solar PV and Thermal for renewable heat and energy, as well as housing a grey water system optimising the use of rainfall and a completely frack free, 100% bio fuel tariff and sensor controlled LED lights. With a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’ and EPC rating of ‘A’, we’re proactively working to reduce our CO₂ levels to help offset the highest levels in 650,000 years (NASA).

As you can see, each detail has been thought out to minimise the impact of our warehouse, so we’ve taken this one step further with our zero to landfill commitment. 38 million tonnes of waste is sent to UK landfill each year (DEFRA), so if all businesses worked towards an aim of reducing this, this figure could substantially drop.

We’re here to protect what we all love, and we’re here to keep our parks green and running trails fresh. We’re taking responsibility for the impact we have on our environment, and we encourage everyone else to take charge of their destiny. This is just the start of a #poweredgreen revolution, and we hope you’ll join us.
