While most people want a trip to the zoo to take in a few lions and tigers, and maybe an ice cream, a South African zoo has other ideas.
In an event that could see day trippers lacing up their Keen running shoes, Johannesburg Zoo combines visiting the animals with a fitness session.
The zoo has organised a series of 'zoo trots' which involve tourists jogging around the exhibits rather than driving.
Sandra Hlunwani, public relations officer, says: "The Joburg Zoo supports a healthy lifestyle. If one of your new year's resolutions was to keep fit, this is an ideal opportunity for you."
The run, with a walking option for those who only sprint when a wild animal is chasing them, is held on the second Sunday of every month.
Johannesburg Zoo houses around 2,070 animals, including lions, honey badgers, zebras and, presumably very warm, polar bears.
For those that use their shoes more for long jump than running, the zoo has also declared 2008 the year of the frog, to draw attention to the global amphibian conversation effort.
Whether running around a zoo or the streets, find Keen shoes here.
