Gerrard and Crouch back Sport Relief

Liverpool football heroes will help raise much needed funds for charity after signing up to Sport Relief.

Steven Gerrard, Liverpool captain, and striker Peter Crouch have lent their support to the charity event taking place this Sunday, which uses funds to help those in need in the UK and internationally.

Gerrard told the paper: "The Sport Relief Mile is a great idea in getting people of all ages out on the street to do something sport and raise money at the same time. Everyone should sign up."

The Liverpool Sport Relief event will take place around the waterfront area and will see hundreds, some possibly wearing Merrell's, complete sponsored challenges.

Striker Crouch said to the paper that he hopes the day will be enjoyable and wishes that it is successful in its fundraising efforts.

The football stars join the ranks of other UK sportsmen and women who are lending their support to the event. Among those backing Sport Relief are James Cracknall, Colin Montgomerie and Sir Steve Redgrave.
