Sega Toys launch "medical entertainment" gadget

Sega Toys have developed a mobile personal instructor that will give the wearer advice based on their pulse rate, adding another must-have fitness accessory to Merrell and Mizuno shoes.

Body Trainer will feature an ear phone that goes in the right ear and a small clip, to monitor the heart rate, which goes on the left, reports press agency AFP.

Describing the product as "medical entertainment", Sega Toys president Isao Kokubun told AFP: "There's great potential for products that make you healthy."

After choosing between walking, jogging or aerobic mode, the unit will provide music and fitness advice.

The routine starts with the a female voice saying "Let's get started" and offers further instructions, such as "Please exercise a little bit harder", depending on the age and heart rate of the user.

Available in Japan from April, the Body Trainer will cost around 5,775 yen (£27) and can be connected to an MP3 player.

Physical activity and entertainment were also linked when the Nintendo Wii was launched in 2006. The console requires players to move around in real-life to control on-screen games such as tennis and boxing.

Merrell and Mizuno shoes, stocked here, can meet you electronic and non-electronic sporting needs.ADNFCR-1002-ID-18483942-ADNFCR
