Runners urged to join the Race of Life

Female fitness fanatics or women looking to do their bit to help a good cause will need to dig out their running shoes in July if they want to take part in this year’s Race for Life.

Whether it be running shoes from Mizuno, Merrell, Ecco or Keen that are worn, there should be no doubt that a lot of fun will be had by all participants across the country – and hopefully the target of £50 million will be achieved.

Last year 665,000 women were brought together to walk, jog or run five km to raise £40 million pounds for Cancer Research UK.

This year the charity is hoping to increase that sum to to fund life-saving research to tackle cancer.

Radio presenter Gloria Hunniford said: “I’m extremely proud to be patron of Race for Life 2008 and would urge every woman, no matter what their age or ability, to sign up for their nearest event.

“It’s all about women coming together, having fun and celebrating the meaning of Race for Life,” she added.
