New golf deal signed between Ecco and European Tour Championship

A three year extension to the deal between the Ecco Tour Championship and the European Challenge Tour has been announced today.

The new agreement is expected to see the prize money for the competition to rise to £180,000.

Jesper Thuen, sponsorship manager of Ecco, said: "As a Danish company, it is important that we support the development of the game in our own country and we believe that, by sponsoring the Ecco Tour."

He added that through the deal Ecco could help provide a platform for a new generation of Danish players to "follow one of the Challenge Tour's most successful players and one of Ecco's most important ambassadors, Thomas Björn".

Ecco shoes are also worn in competition by international Tour stars also include Fred Couples, Colin Montgomerie, Aaron Baddeley and Stuart Appleby.

The 2008 edition of the tournament will be played over the Kokkedal Golfklub, Horsholm, Denmark in August.
