Lawyers in charity marathon run

Two Chester solicitors plan to run the London Marathon in order to raise money for a children's charity.

Ed Barnes, 34, and Tom Sutcilffe, 32, told the Cheshire Evening Leader that they will compete in April to raise funds for the Torch appeal.

"It'll be hard going, but I'd really like to do it. Under four hours is a respectable time and one a lot of the runners aspire to," said Ed.

He faces competition from his barrister wife Anna, who has completed the London and New York marathons previously.

Tom is also confident of their success, telling the paper: "Luckily we're both pretty active and so we're hoping we'll make the finishing line."

The Torch Appeal is a charity for children and young people with cerebral palsy, muscle and nerve disorders, and aims to raise £15 million for the new Oxford Children's Hospital.

Last year, a record 36,396 people entered the Flora London Marathon, with 35,674 managing to cross the finish line.
