JogScotland sprints forward in Peterhead

A campaign to improve fitness in Scotland has encouraged a north-east town to lace up their trainers and start pounding the pavements.

JogScotland, a fitness organisation, has seen more than 50 members sign up at it's Peterhead group, reports the Press & Journal.

One of the group's leaders, Stephen Bruce told the paper: "It's just under a year since we started Peterhead JogScotland and I still can't believe all we have achieved in that short time."

The group ties up their running shoes and jogs around the town twice a week and will hold a 3km run in the summer. Last year's event saw 300 people attend.

JogScotland was set up with backing from the NHS in 2002. It aims to attract more people to jogging, training jog leaders and holding events to do this.

The Peterhead group meets at the town community centre on Mondays and Wednesdays at 18:30 GMT.
