Hi-Tec has developed what it believes is the world's first eco-friendly golf shoe as consumers move towards more green lifestyles.
The Enviro is made from 99 per cent sustainable materials, which features outsoles made of rice husks and latex rubber, chrome-free vegetable tanned leathers and 100 per cent recycled material in the sockliners.
Hi-Tec avoided tanning the Enviro's leather with chrome, as the by-products can make drinking water unsafe and kill off aquatic life.
Fredrik Sundstrom, Hi-Tec's global golf director, said: "The Enviro was a fun but incredible important project to work on.
"The world is definitely changing and we want to push our golf division to be more responsible for the earth."
One of the shoe's components is not green - the spike receptacle although the company has already set its engineers to task in making this sustainable.
The last published findings from the Office for National Statistics show that nine per of UK men and one per cent of women play golf so now almost a tenth of the UK can be green on the green.
