Student to hitch hike 1,500 miles
Hitch hiking one and a half thousand miles must mean you get through a great deal of walking shoes – just ask student Ned Carter when he sets off on a trip through Europe and Africa.
Although it is unclear whether footwear from Ecco, Merrell or Mizuno will be gracing his feet, the 20 year-old is to embark on his charity walk in Easter with two friends from university.
Mr Carter, a psychology student at Sheffield University, was inspired to plan the jaunt after spending time in a school in Malawi.
He is hoping his hitch-hike will raise £400 for the charity Link Community Development.
Speaking to eveningnews24.co.uk he said: “I’ll be standing at the side of the road with my thumb out and a piece of cardboard that says the destination I’m aiming for, with ‘please’ in the language of whatever country I’m in.”
Mr Carter has predicted 16 lifts from truck drivers and or “anyone who is bored and wants entertaining”.
If you, like Ned Carter, are thinking of hitch-hiking you will need strong footwear.
Shoes fitting the bill from the likes of Ecco, Keen and Merrell are available from here at Fitness Footwear.
