Wolverine World Wide, the company responsible for making Hush Puppies, Sebago and Merrell has announced record earnings for the fourth quarter of last year due to demand for Merrell footwear.
Profits for the company rose by $25.6 million (£12.5 million) from $23.6 million (£11.8 million) compared with last year.
Blake Krueger, chief executive for Wolverine World Wide said it was the sales of Merrell that helped the company achieve such growth during 2007.
"Overall, the Outdoor Group set the pace with the Merrell business posting robust double-digit increases in both revenue and earnings for the year," he said in a statement.
Mr Krueger continued: "Merrell enters 2008 with very positive momentum in all geographic regions.
He added that the company has a unique operating platform which spans 180 countries across the globe while the financial success the business has enjoyed has occurred across all areas.
