Entries are now closed and preparations under way for the 2007 Yorkshireman Off-road Marathon, to take place this Sunday (September 9th).
The 26 mile course starts and finishes at New Westfield Farm, Upper Marsh, in Oxenhope, and provides a gruelling off-road challenge for keen runners.
Many participants enjoy the rural appeal of the run, the course of which takes runners through the rolling Haworth Moors, immortalised in the writings of the Bronte Sisters.
Avoiding roads (much as its name suggests), the Yorkshireman marathon involves tough and varied terrain, including woods, bogs and farmland.
Many northern runners may prefer the more traditional appeal of the Great North Run, later this month, but for some the off-road experience is by no means off-limits, providing its own challenging appeal.
For those taking part, finding durable footwear is an essential part of preparations. Fitness Footwear offers a large selection of men's and women's running shoes, from quality footwear companies such as Merrell and Mizuno.
