The Firle Running Festival near Lewes in the South Downs is now in full flow, with runners limbering up for a series of weekend challenges.
Sunday will see keen athletes take on one of several races destined to test the abilities of diverse competitors, with the popular ten km run now taking place on the same day as a five km fun-run and a tougher 20 km course.
Last year saw the event draw many runners to the popular ten km course, but the sternest participants are likely to opt for the 20 km trail run to Alfriston.
The route provides a tougher challenge than the others, but like the ten km and five km races promises participants the enjoyment of beautiful views across the South Downs, with the course varying between on and off-road settings.
Covering ground on the Firle estate, runners can this year benefit from the opening of the grounds to campers who wish to spend the Saturday night there prior to the race, allowing Sunday runners to acclimatise to the surroundings before setting off.
Partaking in races of any length requires a good pair of running shoes which will hold up on a variety of surfaces, without, however, compromising on comfort.
Here at Fitness Footwear customers can find a wide range of great running shoes from leading brands such as Hi-Tec and Mizuno.
