Runners hope to catch medals in the Rye

The last race in the Rye summer classics series will take place this week, with many participants expected for the third and final Friday-night event.

The course will take runners through Rye Harbour in East Sussex, with a route described as flat and low-lying providing a challenge for runners of diverse abilities.

While even beginners are encouraged to take part, the most serious runners among the pack will be vying to seal victory in the overall series with a solid performance in the final leg.

Points are scored by the first 100 male and female runners on the coastal route, with the admission fee paid by all participants going toward protection of the Rye Harbour Nature reserve.

Runners will indeed be able to enjoy the scenic pleasures of the region, including the picturesque town of Rye itself. But many taking part will be less concerned about the views than about their footwear, requiring comfortable and durable running shoes to guarantee a good performance.
