Ridgeway Challenge keeps runners on their toes

How do you like to spend your bank holiday? For many outdoor enthusiasts the August holiday weekend was spent on a gruelling 85 mile race across the Chiltern Hills and North Wessex Downs.

Keen runners took on the Trail Running Association's fourth 'Ridgeway Challenge' hoping to endure the 85 mile route along a 5,000-year-old track-way that involves 9,000 feet of ascent.

Unsurprisingly, the trail cannot be completed in the blink of an eye, with last year's winner Sam Kilpatrick making it past the post after 15 hours and 18 minutes of hard graft.

The Trail Running Association stipulates that contestants must have run at least one marathon since January of the previous year in order to take part, confirming what a challenging race it is intended to be.

Running such distances requires running shoes that are both durable and comfortable. Fitness Footwear offers a selection of sports shoes that can satisfy your requirements.
