Luxury footwear hitting new heights

Sales of luxury footwear are going from strength to strength as designers vie to produce the next top shoe, according to Footwear News.

The specialist footwear site identified Shanghai, New Delhi and Moscow as top new target destinations for the creme de la creme of global luxury shoe designers like Christian Louboutin and Stuart Weitzman.

Global luxury sales hit $150 billion last year, with 30 per cent of demand coming from the United States, according to statistics from Telsey Advisory Group.

The figure is set to rise this year, with the resurgence of wealthy fashion-lovers in up-coming cities like Shanghai and Moscow leading some estimates for 2007 to top $200 billion.

Shoes are one of the key luxury products coveted by celebrities and other shoppers, with bags also featuring high up the list.

The £23,484 Tribute Patchwork bag from Louis Vuitton is the latest to make waves in its department, with only five versions of the model up for sale in North America and Beyonce Knowles rumoured to have snapped one up.

For footwear enthusiasts looking to snap up the best shoes around, without paying in the thousands, top brands such as Merrell are stocked on Fitness Footwear, offering great style and comfort at reasonable prices.ADNFCR-1002-ID-18282030-ADNFCR
