Iverson given bronze shoe-shine

Basketball star Allen Iverson would never be happy with second place, let-alone third, but he will now never be able to forget bronze and all its associations.

Iverson was this week rewarded by the Reebok basketball line for the performance of his own trainer brand by being presented with a bronzed pair of his own model, according to the Denver Post.

Unlikely to take the shiny shoes onto court, the Denver Nuggets veteran will cherish the gift as the hallmark of the success of his The Answer and The Question footwear lines.

Alongside the bronzed shoes Iverson was awarded with a $10,000 (£5,000) cheque for the charity of his choice Crossover Promotions, for whom the star hosts the Allen Iverson Celebrity Summer Classic.

In this and other events, Iverson teams up with Crossover Promotions to raise awareness of the needs of inner city underprivileged youth.
