Ecco holds city walkathon in Sweden
Teaming up with charity Street Kids International, footwear brand Ecco successfully held its first ever Swedish city walkathon last week in Gothenburg.
Despite the rain 2,200 participants followed the route through the centre of Gothenburg, managing to raise SEK 200,000 (£14,534) for Street Kids International projects in Poland, Kenya and Congo.
Gothenburg’s event was the first in a series of European walkathons to be held by the footwear company and charity partnership, with Warsaw and Berlin next in line.
Aiming to assemble anywhere between 1,000 and 5,000 participants for the events, the company’s Walk for Life program has pledged to support Street Kids international for at least three years.
For every kilometre walked by participants, the company promises €1 for the charity (£0.68), thus providing an important contribution to the charity’s work.
