News giant Reuters has given quality footwear company Birkenstock a boost, claiming that shoes from the brand are likely to be found on the latest fashion-conscious demographic to be targeted by marketers.
One of nine new trendy consumer types drawn by Reuters from a new book by branding experts Ron Rentel and Joel Zellnik, the Karma Queen is a cool female demographic found wearing Birkenstock's.
Seen to be leading demand for the newest products, the Karma Queen is described as the most modern of niche consumers.
"A karma queen, for example, is identified as a woman aged in her 40s or 50s who tends to buy organic food, wear Birkenstock footwear, practice yoga and buy high-end bath products," said Reuters.
So marketers are instructed to take into account the Birkenstock-clad woman about town in branding new products, but the quality of the company's footwear could also offer itself as branding advice.
