Pre-teen sensation to hang up his running shoes?

The coach and trainer of an Indian boy who attracted headlines worldwide for his long-distance running feats has been remanded in custody on charges of intimidation and torture.

Biranchi Das denied the allegations in a court appearance this week.
His arrest followed condemnation of the Budhia's Singh's punishing schedules, which included a 40 mile run he undertook last year in front of British television cameras.

Mr Das, who runs a judo school, has been condemned by the boy's mother who alleges that he physically abused her son in pursuit of ever more spectacular performances.

She told an Indian radio station: "Biranchi was beating him up regularly. He even once tied Budhia up from a ceiling fan and threw hot water on his body."
