Hiking boot tours launched in Egypt

An ethical touring company is doing its bit to help the environment by launching a range of hiking tours in Egypt.

Bedouin Paths has promised to support the local community of Sinai by offering to donate a portion of its profits to the development of English-speaking classes in the area, as well as getting behind the region's sustainable development.

Tourists looking to trek across the Egyptian terrain can pull on their hiking boots from early October 2007.

"Hikers will sleep on mountain floors, ride sweaty camels, feel the strain in their legs and have their clothes full of campfire smoke," said Mark Knutton, company founder.

Mr Knutton added that they may want to keep their hiking boots on, claiming people will "wonder why they sit in an office the rest of the time!"

The Sinai peninsula actually lies in Asia between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.ADNFCR-1002-ID-18264633-ADNFCR
