Toddler Suri takes giant steps in Birkenstock sandals

Long the choice of summer shoe for A-List stars from Jay Z to Gwyneth Paltrow, the popularity of Birkenstock sandals among the glitterati it seems is continuing unabated. However, how much input the latest starlet to be spotted in the shoes had into her footwear choice is a matter of debate.

Either way, it comes as little surprise that when Tom Cruise and Katy Holmes were recently spotted in a park with baby Suri, the toddler's feet were graced by a pair of spanking new white Birkenstocks.

Other stars to have recently been spotted in Birkenstock sandals include Johnny Marr, one-time guitarist with the Smiths, TV star James Nesbitt, Chris Martin of Coldplay and Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore.

Meanwhile, the shoes' increasing popularity with fashionistas was recently underlined when top-selling women's magazine Grazia featured the company's rejigged Papillion Salamanca sandals in its fashion pages.
