Heidi Klum spots fakes of her Birkenstock sandals
Supermodel Heidi Klum, who recently designed a range of sandals for the company, has spoken of her surprise at discovering counterfeit versions of her shoes on sale in New York.
On a blog on her personal website, Ms Klum said she "never thought that somebody would imitate them. But really someone did. I myself have seen the fakes in New York".
She went on to describe some signifying marks that will enable buyers to avoid being hoodwinked into buying the fake shoes.
Those considering buying a pair of the shoes are advised by Ms Klum to check for a cotton sac inside and that a small pendant in the shape of the logo developed for the Heidi Klum line is attached to the outer of the shoes.
