Yoga can help fend off migraines

Practicing yoga can help alleviate migraines, it has been claimed.

An India-based research team found that in a study of 72 migraine sufferers, those who were designated to begin a yoga therapy programme reported an easing of headache pain.

Moreover, the duration of the headaches was also reduced.

Study leader Dr PJ John of the University of Rajasthan, told the medical journal Headache: "This study provides preliminary evidence that integrated yoga therapy can be an effective treatment for migraine."

News of the findings follows a report issued this week by American University Penn State that attested that yoga can also help women to cope with the effects of the menopause.

Fitness Footwear offers a range of shoes suitable for yoga, including the Balance Step from Chung-Shi.

Chung-Shi shoes have been praised by health experts for the raft of innovative features they incorporate including a rubber negative heel sole, which improves posture and can help to reduce cellulite.
