More than thirty long distance runners have completed a gruelling 145-mile race along the Grand Union Canal from London to Birmingham.
Rules of the challenge stipulate that entrants are disqualified should they make pitstops of more than 40 minutes and that those recording a time of over 45 hours are deemed to have failed the challenge.
Over eighty competitors had originally lined up for the race before tough weather conditions contributed to a thinning of the field.
Mark Beagley, who was one of the 33 runners to finish, told the Huntingdon Post: "The rules state that you have to run the first 70 miles on your own, but from that point onwards you are permitted to have a support runner with you.
"It is just as well because for the majority of the race you are alongside a canal and if you collapse and fall in you'll never be seen again."
He added: "I started seeing things at one point, but my desire to finish just kept me going"
