Birkenstocks are chef's favourite
The Birkenstock brand is "beloved" by cooks and very much in vogue according to a recent article on kitchen fashions.
Comments came in a feature on what clothes and footwear are most suited for those who work in the heat and stress of a restaurant kitchen.
The Birkenstock brand was heralded in the article on Indyweek.com for the brand's balance of fashion and function.
Brendan Reusing, co-founder of Chapel Hill's Lantern restaurant, said his Birkenstocks "provide superb, crucial back and arch support and as a bonus they're adorable".
The chef at Nana's restaurant, Keith Errickson, told Indyweek.com he wore Birkenstocks for the support they provide his ankles and feet.
The Birkenstock has its roots in Germany. The shoes were first sold in the US in 1967 after being imported by founder Margot Fraser.
