Christmas comes early to Yorkshire pudding chasers
Christmas is in the air and even hardcore sports enthusiasts are set to exchange running shoes for mince pies, but a top Yuletide-themed race took place in the summer.
Featured in Runner's World as one of the UK's favourite event, August's 10k Percy Pud was given an overall participant satisfaction score of 80 per cent.
For many happy runners in the South Yorkshire event, the end may have justified the means, with each finisher granted a tasty Christmas pudding in recognition of their efforts.
Some purists may consider the reward a pointless waste of all the calorie-burning exercise undertaken, but for others the pudding is what made 100 per cent of partipants tell Runner's World that they would take part again.
Over 1,000 participants normally take part in an event that traverses the undulating hills of the region, with top running shoes unlikely to have been lacking in the 2006 race – sponsored by New Balance footwear.
