The UK regions of Bournemouth and Poole are set to become the country's hub for water sports, according to the Bournemouth Tourism Management Board.
With the world's second largest harbour, the area offers Brits unbeatable facilities for practicing water sports and has the potential to host major events.
Mike Francis, chairman of Bournemouth Tourism Management Board, said: "During the 2012 Olympics, the world will be looking at this area and we must ensure that we are a force to be reckoned with; we need to show off our fine water sports attractions."
The board has revealed plans to stage local water sports campaigns in addition to publishing a water-friendly guide to encourage both locals and visitors to take advantage of the water sport facilities all year round.
Due to be fully operational next autumn, the surf reef and beach will offer aqua fans from around the UK the chance to take part in a range of sports including volleyball, beach football and cricket.
Fitness Footwear stocks a wide range of watersports shoes to satisfy all those heading to Dorset or elsewhere for their water-borne fun.
