Birkenstock beggars belief for samplers
Birkenstock shoes are famed for their ability to surprise wearers, with the clumpy-looking style giving not only an alternative look but also an unexpectedly comfortable fit for users.
Such was the case for news site Post-Bulletin when its fashion pages featured a suede-coated model from the European brand.
Post-Bulletin said, with reference to a quirky fashion site holding the shoes: "When we think of Juicy Couture, we think of pink velour track suits and heavily embellished handbags.
"But a suede Birkenstock-style clog? We were surprised, too. We slipped our feet into the ultra-cozy slides and loved the shearling lining and gold link chain detail."
Post-Bulletin went on to announce further innovations in footwear and wider fashion which, like the shoes sampled, contained surprises: "Now that we've grown accustomed to seeing metallic shoes and bags during daylight hours, it doesn't feel like such a big leap to wear metallic clothing before sunset".
