A Little About Injinji Socks...

The human foot is designed to provide exceptional grip, with each of the five toes helping to fine tune the balance; however this movement is greatly restricted by wearing socks. Socks may be a necessity for comfort and insulation, but their downside is that they bunch the toes together, leading to hot, sweaty and uncomfortable feet. Moist warm feet are a haven for fungi and bacteria, which can proliferate causing foot odour, Athletes foot and other fungal infections, and the pressure and moisture greatly increase the change of skin on skin rubbing, and the formation of hard skin and blisters. Restricted movement of the feet can affect blood circulation and reduced air flow inside footwear, allowing heat to build up and moisture to condense.

Socks may serve as excellent insulation for colder weather, but if you want to create the perfect microclimate for your feet and have socks with a glove like fit, Injinji socks are the answer. Injinji socks feature a separate compartment for each toe which allows them to move unimpeded. With each toe working independently, the balance can be fine tuned, ground feedback is improved, and the weight can be distributed more naturally. The toes have to perform a vital role in the gait cycle and help to gain purchase at the push off and help improve forward propulsion, and Injinji socks helping to get the feet working as nature intended to improve traction, and push off speed for runners.

Injinji socks create a barrier around each toe to prevent skin on skin contact, and use patented AIS technology to get a close and comfortable fit. Seams are kept to a minimum, with Injinji socks using flat-lock stitching throughout to prevent any sources of abrasion. Injinji socks are constructed from a blend of Coolmax® fabric for exceptional moisture management and Nylon for robustness. Coolmax® fabric contains numerous channels which help to wick moisture away from the skin by capillary action, improving the rate of evaporation considerably compared to both modern and natural fibres. The Coolmax® fabric is kept next to the skin, with a weave that allows the moisture to pass through the fabric and evaporate unimpeded. A Nylon outer layer ensures the socks are highly durable and also helps to create a friction free environment inside shoes for greater comfort. Whilst most socks can lose their shape, Injinji socks maintain a close and comfortable fit with Lycra® helping to keep the socks snugly on the feet, whilst the design is such that Injinji socks have memory to maintain the exact shape and size of the feet and a highly individual fit.

The five toes design makes the shoes ideal to wear with barefoot shoes, with the performance range ideal for use with five toes footwear, to help keep the feet dry and comfortable and to improve insulation for cold weather. Whilst the socks do add an extra layer of cushioning, they ensure that the full benefits of being barefoot are maintained.

The Injinji socks range has been developed to be worn with the full range of footwear, with designs to help get the most out of sport from hiking through to traditional barefoot activities such as Yoga. For indoor activities the range uses a lightweight construction for comfort, with extra traction provided by slip resistant soles. For exploring the great outdoors and for hiking and adventuring the award winning Injinji socks outdoor range is the best choice. The outdoor range is constructed from Australian merino wool. Merino wool is renowned for its ultra soft weave and moisture wicking properties, and keeps the feet well insulated without compromising breathability, and can even maintain insulation when wet. Whilst designed for cold weather wear, the merino wool in Injinji socks also performs well in warmer weather, helping to keep the feet cool.

Injinji socks have been accepted by the American Podiatric Medical Association (AMPA) for the improvements they can make to foot health, and have won numerous awards for their innovative, comfortable and highly technical performance.
