Ecco shoes baegan in 1963 and since then the Danish footwear manufacture has been committed to the production of high quality shoes, sourcing the best materials to construct a full range of footwear from business shoes to boots which can perform in the most extreme environments. The Ecco company prides itself on its full control of the entire footwear manufacture process from cow to consumer. The company owns its own tanneries and can ensure that the full manufacture process is subjected to their strict quality control with no element left to chance.
When it comes to outdoor performance footwear Ecco have been at the forefront of new technology, being one of the first manufacturers to realise the potential of GORE-TEX fabric for its supreme waterproofing and breathability for footwear. By knowing when and when not to utilise new technology, their footwear is a perfect balance of new high performance materials and traditional tried and tested design and construction.
Whilst many companies are obsessed with shoes, Ecco are obsessed with the foot. It is their foot fanaticism which drives the company to create the perfect cushioning, protection, and styles to ensure that each of the 26 bones in each foot is perfectly aligned. The toes are perfectly positioned and allowed to move freely and the correct support is given to provide comfort at all times to give a unique walking experience.
Their performance footwear is borne from a 2 year study into the mechanics of the human foot and the performance during walking barefoot. The results from the study have helped them to develop shoes which enhance movement and allow the feet to move naturally as nature intended, providing a healthy environment for the feet and the ultimate in comfort though their Receptor ® technology which features throughout the performance footwear range.
The Offroad and All-Terrain sandal models offer a super lightweight construction, excellent flexibility, comfort and style when the temperatures rise and keeping cool is the order of the day. They feature an AgIon treatment to keep bacteria from growing, a super soft lining, robust leather /Nubuck uppers and their specially developed outsole tread pattern for exquisite grip in the wet and dry.
For the highest performance in the most extreme of environments Ecco Shoes require more endurance than your standard cow can provide, which is why Ecco have turned to a high altitude specialist for extreme weather protection, the yak. Yak leather is three times stronger than cow leather and offers a material for extreme performance at an altogether different level as any Sherpa would testify. The use of rich yak leather and yak Nubuck offers an extra degree of protection for the feet and greater robustness for maximum longevity.
Shoes are kept lightweight to ensure muscle fatigue is kept at bay, and excellent cushioning copes with the most rugged of terrain. The construction technology ensures the greatest stability and dynamic foot support throughout all three phases of the step. To ensure that moisture and rain does not spoil a hike, shoes and boots feature a GORE-TEX membrane to keep the water out and allow sweat to escape to maintain a healthy environment for the feet.
When it comes to boots for hiking and walking in the extremes of temperature, Ecco utilise rubber from Vibram which is guaranteed to give the best grip over any surface, naturally with GORE-TEX to keep the feet breathing, and the right level of insulation for comfort and warmth.
